Why dont my subwoffers work when i wire them up at 2 ohm?

Ok I have two alpine type r 10s and a kicker 300.1zx amp the amp is 2 ohm stable and the subs are 2 ohm I looked up how to run the set up at 2ohm and wired like it showed and the info came from kicker so I know the info has to be some what right any how when I wire it like it says nothing happens at all its like there not even hooked up if I wire them any other way it throws my amp in protection I have tested each sub there brand new so I know they work anyone know why there not working when I wire them 2 ohm?
