Serious electrical problem?

Iwas getting a lightbulb out of a socket in the bedroom, which is right next to the living, room, ehn I turned the bulb, the thing that holds the lighbulb turned too, there were some sparks, so I went to turn the light on to see if the outlett socket thing was ok, and the light came on, but I went into the other room and my sister said the tv made a loud pop and everything that was plugged in turned off, its been a little bit now and the cable box and xbox appear to be working now(they were all plugged into one of those 8 plug adapter things), but the tv's red power light is sort of flasshing on every few seconds then going back off, I just want to know what happened, if a fuse blew, or if the power was cut for a few seconds or if something else happened.
