If you break the glass of a lightbulb will it still work?

(not flurecent) and also , what parts of the lightbulb can it function without, and ( one more thing) What are the materials inside of it. I just got curious and started to wonder how everything works. I'm thinking about buying a set of headphones just to see if i can take them apart and put them together again... :/
