Can a cheap car head unit sound good if you hav expensive speakers?

I have bought a second hand car that has a very cheap c.d head unit. I do not have very much money but I do have expensive alpine speakers from my last car. I have 2 for the front door and 2 6x9's will the speakers improve the sound any or is just not worth bothering
